Whether machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistics, or database design, the tools businesses have today eclipse what was once only dreamed of. However, a problem many businesses face is incorporating these tools into their operations. Many executives have business knowledge but are unfamiliar with these new technologies. On the other hand, many graduates of computer science or data science programs know the technology but have no experience applying them in the business world. Our analytics programs bridge this gap by showing how these tools can be used in business operations and developing strategic plans.

Our analytics program was developed in conjunction with industry experts. Our faculty worked side by side with analytics professionals in distribution, entertainment, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and transportation to develop a multi-level analytics program. Our graduates have the training they need to fill high-demand, prominent career opportunities, especially as these technologies become increasingly prevalent.

CoBA analytics students receive the exclusive benefit of connecting with the Pontikes Center for Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. The Pontikes Center is a first of its kind. This unique virtual think tank combines big data and analytics with artificial intelligence to create optimum data impact. The Pontikes Center’s home is in the College of Business and Analytics at SIU Carbondale, but its reach is worldwide.
